How Ozempic Works

Ozempic contains semaglutide, which mimics your body's natural GLP-1 hormone. It reduces appetite by acting on hunger centers in the brain, slows stomach emptying so you feel full longer, and improves blood sugar control. This triple action makes it highly effective for both diabetes and weight loss.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes! While Ozempic is FDA-approved for diabetes, physicians can legally prescribe it off-label for weight loss. At Premier Weight Loss, we evaluate your health profile and prescribe the most appropriate medication for your needs.

Ozempic is often more available during shortages, is our most affordable option at $175/month, and may be sufficient for patients seeking moderate weight loss (14-15%). Wegovy goes to a higher dose and may produce slightly more weight loss.

Ozempic (semaglutide) works on one receptor (GLP-1), while Mounjaro (tirzepatide) works on two (GIP + GLP-1). Mounjaro typically produces more weight loss (20-22% vs 14-15%) but costs more. Many patients start with Ozempic and switch if needed.

Supply has improved significantly. At Premier Weight Loss, we work with multiple pharmacies and compounding sources to maintain consistent access for our patients. We'll always communicate proactively about any supply issues.

You'll likely notice reduced appetite within 1-2 weeks. Weight loss typically becomes visible by weeks 4-6 and continues for months as your dose is optimized. Most patients see their best results between months 6-12.
